Typographical Maps

Posted on

I’ve been feeling a little blue and so have looked around for things to cheer me up, two of my favorite things ? Typography and maps!!   So what could be better than………. For sheer ‘happyness’ quota this Ursula Hitz print hits the spot, for sale here  Seagull Hut  or see her blog Seagull’s Eye.  Love the Retro ‘groovy’ font.

“Ursula Hitz is interested in the ways that letters capture not only the dimensions of a place, but its personality too.”

More traditional ? …suitable for Great Britain maybe.   Bold and Noble’s Uk Map in Slate.

Go to  Bold & Noble  for lots more typographical eye candy.

and finally  …. for now I especially like this by Mark Andrew Webber

It’s a  beautiful linocut type map of Amsterdam. You can read about him and purchase some of his work  here  at the futuretense.

A little of my happiness quota is restored.

About aalid

Book loving, craft obsessed, retro, library working, slightly geeky female. Probably old enough to know better but refusing to learn, persistantly looking for the aesthetically pleasing in life to cheer up my apparently miserable face! The Mage and Raven is my bookshop - it doesnt exist - except for inside my brain.
